What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual rather than the disease. Stimulating the body to heal itself it facilitates a gentle return to health. Developed 200 years ago by a german doctor, Dr Samuel Hahnemann, it can be used safely in conjunction with conventional medicine.

How does it work?

Homeopathic remedies, made from a variety of sources including plants and minerals, are used to stimulate the body's own healing ability. Remedies are prescribed based on the totality of physical, mental and emotional symptoms in each case.

Symptoms are used to find the best remedy for a patient and all symptoms are important. Homeopaths take note of all of the patient's symptoms and use them to prescribe the remedy appropriate to that person.

Homeopaths treate symptoms with a system of "like cures like". Putting it simply, substances that cause certain symptoms in their crude state can cure those symptoms when prepared as a homeopathic remedy.

What can homeopathy be used for?

A wide variety of complaints can be treated, including physical, mental and emotional conditions, and even people suffering from symptoms with no clear diagnosis can benefit greatly. As it is non-toxic, anyone can be safely treated with homeopathy, including infants, children and pregnant women.

Are homoeopathy and homeopathy the same?

Yes they are. Homoeopathy is the classical spelling that is used by the school. Homeopathy is it's modern equivalant.
